Teacher Appreciation Ambassadors

Early in the school year, I was volunteered by a friends to head up teacher appreciation on behalf of the PTC.  I wasn't sure whether to be excited when someone said, "we knew you were the perfect person for the job" or whether I should be scared and run.  I have secretly always wanted to be involved with PTC stuff, but within my own parameters.  I was terrified that I would get sucked in, not be able to say no when I didn't feel like I could do something or that I didn't have the time.  This seemed like a perfect opportunity to get involved on my own terms.  It was a blank slate and I could create whatever I wanted and do whatever I wanted.  I was so grateful when my sweet friend, Tracy Dennis, volunteered to be my partner in crime!  I knew we would make a great team.  We think a lot alike, share a common love and appreciation for the teachers at our school and most of all, we are both no drama kinda people.  We decided that we would like to appreciate the teachers and staff both and the end of trimesters, as well as on special holidays and seasons.  We have done many cute and fun things including a breakfast grab bar at the end of the first trimester.  Chocolate covered pretzels like pumpkins for Fall.  Hot cocoa and candy canes for all the staff at Christmas time and Christmas wrapping paper and tape for the teachers.  We did Hershey bars for Valentines day and at the end of the second trimester, we hosted a nice lunch with subway sandwiches, chips, drinks, fruit and salad.  Whatever gesture,  big or small, the teachers and staff seem to always be so so grateful.  Tracy and I are starting preparations for Teacher Appreciation Week.  We want to make it really special and encourage students to show their appreciation to their teachers.  We really love these teachers and all they do for our kids.  I'm grateful to be involved in such a wonderful cause.  Tracy and I agreed to continue on next year.
