Mommy and Grant got to have a special date while the girls were at the Daddy Daughter Dance. Sadly, we missed the mother son event at school because it was held on a Sunday night. So, I wanted to make this a special night for Grant to make up for it. He decided on the itinerary for the evening. We went to The Squeeze Inn for dinner. Hadn't been there in forever so he was excited for a yummy burger. Then he decided that he wanted to go to Petroglyphs to paint pottery. It was a fun idea and I was looking forward to working alongside him on a project like this. We could talk and visit while doing something fun. After about 15 minutes of scouting out the options, Grant decided to paint a dunk mug. Coolest thing ever! It had a little slot where you rest your cookies while they wait for their turn to be dunked in milk. I chose a small plate. Grant had envisioned a galaxy of colors with puffy white stars. He had fun painting multiple coats and really enjoyed the process. We probably could've taken our time a bit more, but midway through dinner, our friends invited us over for jacuzzi time and smore's dip. Who can say no to that? So, we finished painting our pottery just after 7:00 p.m. and headed to get our swim suits at home and then to Melinda and Staci's. We really enjoyed the painting and hope to go back. It was a little daunting our first time, seeing all the options and possibilities. Next time, we will be a little better prepared. I loved spending alone time with Grant and making a special piece to commemorate our Mommy Son date.
