Basketball
What a blessing to see Morgan develop and grow in a sport she had never played. Brother Shouse was Morgan's soccer coach last season and he agreed to coach a 1st/2nd grade basketball team and invited Morgan to play. While Morgan had never even dribbled a ball, or shot a basket, I knew she had the potential to excel in anything! I could tell she was nervous at first, but she caught on rather quickly and her athleticism was a huge benefit. She is fast, coordinated and was learning to be a little more aggressive. She made four hoops and her progression through the season was remarkable. I saw a shy girl really come out of her shell and really have fun trying something new. We are so proud of her bravery and the courage it took to try something new. And guess what...she LOVES basketball and was really sad when it ended. I have to admit, I really loved it too. One practice a week (indoors and not dependent upon the weather elements) and one fun, fast paced, 32 minute game (4, 8 minute quarters). It was a wonderful experience for Morgan to also play with so many soccer friends and to also meet some really sweet new girls. Morgan is signed up and going to continue playing basketball for a few more months on a competitive Hot Shots team (also with her coach Brother Shouse!). She is so excited!
