American Girl Doll Garden Party
Over spring break, Morgan used some of her money to purchase a cute little garden party set from the Our Generation doll section at Target. It was so adorable how she couldn't wait to get home to open it up and set up her very own little doll party. The set came complete with decorations including a little pennant banner, a sign and pinwheels and even tiny little macaroon cookies. She had a lovely afternoon playing with her dolls. Even her class pet happened to be at our home, so Spotty got to join in on the fun as well!!! Can I say how much it warms my heart that my girls love their dolls as much as I did when I was a little girl?

CHP Visits Morgan's Second Grade Class
I loved getting a text from one of Morgan's friends mom with these pictures! Apparently, Morgan's friend Rachel's Dad is a CHP officer and he came into the class to talk about his job and what the does. Of all the kid, he chose Morgan to come up and be his little helper. She got to try on his giant, heavy helmet and see what it would feel like to be a motorcycle cop. So cool. She was pretty excited to tell me about it when she got home and I was grateful Rachel's mommy was there to capture this moment.
A Hard Working Hubby
When we visit Daddy at his office, this is what we see! He's constantly busy, especially this time of year. However, NEVER too busy for a lunch date with us...the family he loves and works so hard for. We are so grateful for all that he does for our family. For the countless hours he works, for the successful business he has built, for the many relationships he has fostered and grown to help him get where he is at today. We couldn't be more proud of him. We are grateful that even though we know that his business is so important to our livelihood, he never makes us second. Even during the busiest of times like tax season, he makes time to have lunch with us, calls every night for bedtime wishes and family prayers. He texts me messages throughout the day just to let me know he is thinking of me. He lets me know when he is on his way home and when he won't or can't be available. It's these little things that matter. That let me know that WE are his priority. Chris is an amazing father and husband! I love him dearly and cannot thank him enough!
Impromptu Trip to Fresno during Spring Break
With spring break in progress and Chris working a ton, the kids and I decided to take an impromptu trip to Fresno. Truth be told, I had been worried about my Dad. He had been complaining of memory loss, forgetting things, not wanting to drive because he was afraid he would get lost. Based on that and some other symptoms he'd been having, I had myself convinced that he was in the early stages of either Alzheimer's or Dementia. I decided to go down to Fresno for myself and check things out. It turned out to be a very enjoyable visit. The kids and I spent time with my parents, Chris' parents, their cousins and Aunt and Uncles. We ate at DiCicco's (a must if you're going to make the trip), Dog House Grill and all our other favorites. I also took the kids, along with Aunt Steph and their other cousins, to the trampoline place, Sky Walk. The kids had a wonderful time in Fresno and it was good to see everyone. It had been awhile since we had made the trip. Grant even had a chance to use the drone he got for Christmas. It's one that goes in the water, so Grandma and Grandpa Sly's pool was the perfect place to try it out. We even dyed easter eggs with Grandma and helped Grandpa break in his new table top air hockey game. The kids did really great on the car ride to and from and I'm always proud that I did it by myself. I hate driving, honestly! I can't even imagine how I used to do it when I worked and had to travel long distances in the car all by myself! It was good to be back home and Chris was glad to have us back. He said he slept terribly. I told him we did too. Especially Morgan and I. We were sleeping in the front room and Morgan said to me one morning, "Mom, why did you turn on the light if its not time to get up?" I had to explain to her that it wasn't the light in the room, but rather the sunlight that comes blasting in through the giant window in the front bedroom at Grandma's house. Hopefully one of these days, Grandma will decide on a window treatment or shutters that will provide some coverage. hahahaha! She has had sheets covering that window for years now.
Mahaney Park and the Martha Riley Community Library
One of the other things on our list of "things to do on Spring Break" was a visit to our favorite park in Roseville. We decided to also visit the neighboring library and get a library card for this awesome library. Lincoln has one library, but it's limited hours sometimes make impromptu trips impossible. When we went into the library, we were also surprised that the library shares the building with the Roseville Utility Exploration Center. It is a free science museum that talked all about utilities and resources. It was pretty fun thing to see - especially the giant column full of stuff that was put into recycling. It also showed how long things would take to decompose! It was a super fun day, but as you can tell, a little on the cool side. Not used to this type of weather on spring break !
